Mango Fruit Facts
Mango fruit - facts about this delicious, health-giving fruit.
Have you ever asked yourself how many different varieties of mango are there? You might be surprised to learn that there are over 1,000 different kinds of mango grown throughout South East Asia, India, the Caribbean and South America. Each kind has its own characteristic fragrance, texture and taste.
Although we usually think of ripe mangoes as red, orange or golden yellow, some species of mango remain green when ripe. Our favorite mango here in Indonesia is called “harum manis”, which means “sweet and fragrant”. This is an exceptionally fragrant, juicy mango, quite different to the many rounder, commercially grown red mangoes in other countries.
